Professor Vincent Olusegun Sowemimo Olunloyo is an inspiring teacher who has touched the lives of many students across the world, he is an outstanding scientist and one of Nigeria's greatest engineer and an holder of the National Merit Award in the sciences. Professor Olunloyo is currently the professor and cordinating consultant in the school of mechanical, materials and manufacturing Engineering of the Akwa-Ibom State University of Technology (AKUTECH), and the foundation Head of Department of Systems Engineering, University of Lagos a position he has occupied since 2000. He holds the degrees of B. Sc in Mechanical Engineering and Ph.D in Fluid Mechanics, both from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, USA, obtained in 1967 and 1972, respectively.

Following the completion of his doctoral programme, Professor Olunloyo served as a Post-Doctoral Fellow/Assistant Professor of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics in the Graduate School of that University during the period 1972-1973.
